General
Buses, trains & ferries
General information on how to get to the University using bus, train and/or ferry can be found here.
For route planning on busses, trains and ferries you can use https://transportnsw.info/trip#/. It will show you maps of where you need to walk and where to catch and leave your bus or train.
NB Sydney trains and busses use OPAL cards. These are widely available (e.g. numerous retailers at airport, post office at UNSW) and extra credit can be aded on-line.
Car share & Taxis
GoGet carshare is a private initiative that provides many of the benefits of a car without the hassle of owning one. It has been designed for people who don’t need a car everyday but like to use one occasionally. As a member you have access to a comprehensive network of new cars all over Sydney.
GoGet has four cars available on the Kensington Campus:
For more information and to join visit www.goget.com.au.
UNSW is served by a number of taxi companies, with High St and Anzac Pde attracting the greatest number of passing taxis. If you’d like to book ahead, UNSW has a dedicated taxi line at the Help Point at Gate 14, on Barker St, or try Ingogo or Taxis Combined. To pre-book a taxi, you can use https://www.taxiscombined.com.au.
Driving and parking
For visitors who need or wish to drive, UNSW provides a limited number of on-campus car parking spaces. To apply for a parking permit or for any queries please contact Security and Traffic Management.
Parking on the UNSW Kensington campus is free only when parked in a marked bay:
Valid parking permits must be displayed in accordance with the UNSW Parking Rules between the hours of 7.30am and 7.30pm Monday to Friday. UNSW is a Restricted Parking Area and parking is only permissible in marked bays. Parking outside of a marked bay is strictly prohibited and will incur a fine.
To assist with the management of UNSW permits, Security and Traffic Management is trialing License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology. Please ensure that your registration plate number matches the registration number printed on your permit. If you are driving a different vehicle, please visit our office with the new registration papers so your details can be updated on the system and a new permit issued. Taxi
There are sheltered taxi stands in both the international and domestic airports.
Traveling to Sydney City will cost typically $45-55 (one way).
Uber it
Pick up points are available in both airports. For the domestic terminal, this is the Priority Pick-up Zone. For the international terminal, this is the Express Pick-up zone. Check Uber Fare Estimator to estimate your fare.
Public Transport
Trains are available that travel to many city destinations (including Central Station). There is no train that goes directly to UNSW. Although there are direct buses from the Airport to UNSW, it is faster to travel by train to central and then take a direct bus to the venue (for example).
