Travel support applications are no longer being accepted.
Limited resources are available to support the attendance of researchers from developing countries to the Conference and attendance of students and Early Career Researchers (ECR) to the Joint YESS-YHS ECR Workshop and the Conference. The application for travel support can be found in step 4 of the registration form. Please note that grants will most likely not cover the entire cost of attending the Conference and/or ECR Workshop, and applicants are strongly advised to secure partial support from other sources.
Grants are assigned based on:
- Financial need (ECR applicants with funding from other sources will have their applications prioritized)
- Scientific merit of the presentation described in the applicant’s abstract
- The grantee’s contribution to the Conference or the Conference and ECR Workshop
- Gender and geographic balance among all support applicants
- The grantee’s provision of all supporting documents
Grantees must attend the entire Conference in order to benefit from the financial support. As part of the application process, the applicant must email evidence of other sources of funding acquired to gewex@gewex.org.
Supporting Documents
- An abstract of a scientific paper relevant to the Conference themes, of which the applicant is the principal author
- A brief Curriculum Vitae (1 page maximum) that includes the applicant’s contact information, address, and status (e.g., student, early career researcher, or scientist from emerging an emerging or developing country)
- A short statement (300 words maximum) indicating the scientific motivation and expected benefits of the applicant’s participation in the Conference. In addition, the applicant must state if she/he has received support from WMO or WCRP in the past
- If the applicant is a student, she/he must upload a recommendation letter from her/his supervisor, supporting her/his attendance.
Application Process
- Apply for travel support in step 4 of the registration form by selecting “yes” to the question, “Would you like to apply for travel support?”
- Submit your supporting documentation when prompted
- Email evidence of other sources of funding acquired to gewex@gewex.org
